Saturday January 13, 1pm - 5pm

We are all searching for that "perfect balance." We ask our friends what they do and we try and implement those behaviors. We get advice from health coaches, nutritionists, our wise parents, and still no matter what we do, adjust, tweak, still change feels impossible to maintain!

Why is this? Often our struggles have more to do with when we are trying to implement them more than what we are attempting to implement. Ayurveda is a rhythmic practice. It rests its palm on patterns, usually guided by the natural cycles of our gorgeous planet. Learning to understand and predict these cycles is the most effective way to implement change. Time, place, and circumstance are strong influencers and their pressure upon our minds and bodies must be embraced.

In this workshop, we will explore the seasons of the day, the month, the year, and of our lives. We will learn how the 5 elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space all adjust during these times and we will learn how to work with them rather than against them. This is important because understanding what is influencing us is a necessary step in learning how to create change in ourselves. We will begin with a lecture from 1-3pm, delving into the riches of Kala, Time. And, after a short break, we will put these concepts into action in a sweet asana practice from 3:30-5pm, supported by a long, nourishing savasana.

This workshop is open to all. The asana practice will be suited to all ages, bodies, and strengths.

ABOUT SARRA

Sarra has been a lifetime student and accomplished teacher of Yoga and Ayurveda. She has been blessed with teachers who have searched classically for the patterns of the Universe and Spirit. Her studies and experiences in the realms of Yoga, Mantra, and Ayurveda all serve to assist in increasing her depth, sensitivity, and simplicity in ways she lives and practices.

Some of her teachers include, Andrey Lappa of Universal Yoga, Kula Yoga Project, Sankalpah College of Yoga (Yoga), Sadhvi Abha Saraswatiji and Raghunath Cappo (Mantra), Vaidya Ravi of Poonthottam Ayurvedasram, the California College of Ayurveda, Dr. Claudia Welsh, Dr. Cate Stillman, and BCD (Ayurveda). Her teachers of touch include those at Sunshine School (Chiang Mai, Thailand) and Ohm (Omsala Chiang Mai, Thailand) for the wisdom of Thai Massage and Chi Nei Tsang.

Each of her teachers has forever moved her to teach from a heartfelt space of humble knowledge, respect, and intuition - qualities ever present in yoga and its teachings.

In classes we will focus on the science behind the relationships between the body,  the mind, and their bridges . We are concerned with the flow of prana, how and where it moves and does not move in posture, in nadi, with consciousness. Using the paradigms of Ha-tha Yoga and Ayurveda we will explore our capacity to be both strong and flexible, moving and still, Ha and Tha, and of course, migrating in the direction of steady appreciation and awareness.
