Saturday November 11, 10am - 1pm This workshop will be taught in both English and Lao Language
While strength and flexibility are key towards rising into advanced postures such as arm balances and inversions, even more important is an understanding of how to integrate the body in such a way that creates lightness and stability. Integration takes place when we can experience the body as a whole, rather than its individual parts, so that back, core, legs and shoulders become one, and that this integration can be created and informed through the sound and the rhythm of our breath. Furthermore, when the body and the breath are integrated, there is an expansiveness through which we also become integrated with space and with the universe around us.
We will use Ujayi pranayama to expand energy through the body in such a way that it begins to inform the way we move. Through moving the body naturally with breath, we begin to experience how lifting off the floor can take place with less effort. This workshop is intended for those who would like to learn how to move into inversions with greater effortlessness as well as those who would like to just learn how to integrate the body, even if you're not quite ready to go upside down yet. We promise you'll have fun while taking your understanding of movement and yoga to the next level.
