YOGA FOR RADIANT HEALTH
Saturday January 16 and Sunday January 17, 2016
At Le Sen Boutique Hotel

with Gernot Huber
Picture
Prerequisite:
The only prerequisite is a regular yoga practice of at least a few months. It is not necessary that you have ever come into an inversion (headstand, handstand, shoulderstand etc.) to attend even the last session of this workshop as we will cover the basics. Because of the comprehensive thematic nature of the workshop, and its strong emphasis on alignment and awareness, it is equally recommended for intermediate and even advanced students who want to make their practice safer and more effective. Sessions can be taken individually.

Yoga has the power to transform your body and your mind, enabling you to lead a happier, healthier and more meaningful life. But what you emphasize when you practice yoga will determine whether you are maximizing or minimizing its extraordinary benefits.

This workshop is designed to teach you how to maximize the benefits of yoga while learning to let go of detrimental behavior patterns that can creep into your practice. You will also learn how to practice in such a way as to minimize injuries, even if you have pre-existing conditions that may make you wonder whether you should practice yoga at all. Lastly, you will learn specific yoga techniques to address chronic health conditions such as back pain, poor posture, poor circulation, excessive stress, insomnia, constipation, neck tension, depression, low energy, arthritis, and osteoporosis.

Using mainly Anusara and Forrest Yoga techniques, this workshop is designed to be experiental, with about 80% asana practice and 20% discussion. For a more in-depth treatment of yoga therapy with more background information, see my Yoga Therapeutics workshop.

Sessions:
  • Saturday 9:30-12:30: Improving strength and balance to reduce chances of accidental injury (standing poses and balancing poses)
  • Saturday 14:00-17:00: Enhancing flexibility for joint health and stress reduction (hip and shoulder openers, plus restorative yoga)
  • Sunday 9:30-12:30: Creating a radiant core to reduce back pain and improve digestion, sleep, and energy (core work including twists, forward and some backbends)
  • Sunday 14:00 -17:00: Developing a spacious spine for better posture, more efficient circulation, and improved mood (postural analysis, backbends, plus some inversions)
